Feminist Press Receives 2021 Funding from Amazon Literary Partnership

The Amazon Literary Partnership today announced that Feminist Press received a grant to support its publishing program and operations. Feminist Press is among the list of eighty Amazon Literary Partnership Grant Recipients for 2021, collectively awarded a total of more than $1 million.

The Amazon Literary Partnership (ALP) supports writers to help tell their stories and find their readers, empowering writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment and thrive. Since 2009, ALP is committed to uplifting and amplifying the voices of overlooked or marginalized writers by supporting the literary community through grants to writing programs and nonprofit literary organizations, including groups like Feminist Press.

Grant funds will support Feminist Press’s 2021 publishing program, including the publication of forthcoming works like Black Box, the memoir that sparked Japan’s #MeToo movement, written by Shiori Ito and translated by Allison Markin Powell; Don’t Worry, a novel from Iran written by Mahsa Mohebali and translated by Mariam Rahmani; and Skye Papers, the debut novel by Jamika Ajalon. The grant will also support our extensive and creative literary programming, designed to engage diverse audiences and invite a range of voices to enter the conversation about literature and social change.

“The Amazon Literary Partnership awards grants to innovative groups who create deep impact on the lives of writers and the broader literary and publishing community,” said Alexandra Woodworth, manager of the ALP program. “We are delighted to support all of this year’s grant recipients and commend their continued commitment to nurturing a vibrant and diverse literary landscape.”
