Application period for next executive director and publisher now open

NEW YORK, NY— The Feminist Press at CUNY Board of Directors is excited to announce that the application period for our next executive director and publisher is now open. Candidates from the publishing and nonprofit fields are encouraged to apply. All details can be found on the City University of New York website.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the executive director and publisher is responsible for FP’s publishing program, budget, and staff, and will build partnerships and engage with CUNY and the wider public. The executive director will ensure that the Press's operating budget is fully supported by a combination of earned income, in part from the sale of books and rights, and in part from individual donations, events, and grants. They will set direction for editorial acquisitions, e-book technology and ongoing social media. The executive director will be responsible for increasing sales and fundraising.

Former ED Jamia Wilson left the Press in December to become Vice President and Executive Editor in the Random House imprint of Penguin Random House. During her tenure, Wilson diversified and expanded FP’s funding pipeline and grant portfolio, developing a framework for sustainable growth.

“FP seeks a visionary and passionate leader who has their finger on the pulse of the literary world and finds joy in pushing the feminist conversation forward,” said FP board chair Linda Villarosa. “We look forward to starting this next important chapter in the Press’s fifty-one year history.”
