About ENJOY ME AMONG MY RUINS:

Equal parts feminist theory, X-Files fan mail, and confessional memoir, Enjoy Me among My Ruins draws together a kaleidoscopic archive of Juniper Fitzgerald’s experiences as a queer, sex-working mother.

Fitzgerald’s love of women began with her fascination with Dr. Dana Scully and cult icon Gillian Anderson, the actor who portrayed her. Interspersing her childhood diary entries written to Gillian with vignettes of the other women who shaped her life, Fitzgerald cradles the traumas she cracks open on these pages between tender love letters—to her daughter, to her friends, to her lovers, to her exes, and to herself. Set against a backdrop of American opulence and decay, this experimental manifesto contends with dominant narratives placed on marginalized people, ultimately rejecting a capitalist system that demands our purity and submission over our survival.
