Joan Kelly
Joan Kelly (1928 - 1982) was a professor of history at City College of the City University of New York for over twenty years and the author of Leon Battista Alberti: Universal Man of the Early Renaissance, published by the University of Chicago Press in 1969. In the 1970s, Kelly's interest turned to women's history and to feminist theory. She was a pioneer in the new scholarship on women, teaching both at the City College of New York and Sarah Lawrence College. A posthumous collection of Kelly's essays, Women: History and Theory, was published by the University of Chicago Press in 1984.
