Evi Blaikie
Evi Blaikie was born in Paris to Hungarian Jewish immigrants less than a year before the outbreak of World War II. Narrowly escaping the Holocaust and subsequently moving throughout Europe with her family, Evi attended the University of Vienna, Austria, where she studied language for three years. In 1960, Evi left Europe, moved to Venezuela, and immigrated from there to the United States, where she married into a politically active Irish Catholic family, studied fashion design, and worked in New York for twenty-five years. Now divorced and with three children and grandchildren, Evi works part time for an environmental organization. Magda’s Daughter: A Hidden Child’s Journey Home is her first full-length work.
