Feminist Press founder Florence Howe.

The Florence Howe Society is a dedicated community of supporters who have pledged to include the Feminist Press in their estate planning. Founded in 1999, and named in honor of FP’s founder, the Florence Howe Society offers the opportunity to sustain the vital mission of feminist publishing for years to come.

In 1970, as the movement for women’s liberation gathered momentum nationwide, Florence Howe founded the Feminist Press to provide a home for marginalized voices and stories from around the world. Nearly five decades later, the Feminist Press continues to thrive as the vanguard of feminist literary activism. We’ve mobilized publishing as a tool for cultural transformation and made great strides in the movement for gender justice, but there is still much work to be done.

We invite you to help carry out Florence’s ambitious legacy and advance the vibrant future of feminist publishing by becoming a member of the Florence Howe Society.
