Celine Parrenas Shimizu

Filmmaker and film scholar Celine Parreñas Shimizu is professor of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is well known for her work on race, sexuality, and representation. Her books include Straitjacket Sexualities: Unbinding Asian American Manhoods in the Movies and The Hypersexuality of Race: Performing Asian/ American Women on Screen and Scene, winner of the 2009 Best Book Prize in Cultural Studies from the Association for Asian American Studies.
